Eye Safety Systems, Inc. (ESS), a leading manufacturer in ballistic eye protection for military and public safety professionals, today announced the introduction of the ESS FirePro™ Series, a new product line of low-profile goggles optimized for wildland firefighting.  The FirePro™ Series broadens and updates ESS’ presence in the wildland firefighting market, where the larger framed ESS Striketeam™ goggles have held a leadership position for the past decade.

Adapted from the ESS Profile NVG™, the most widely-used military goggle in the world, ESS FirePro™ goggles feature a compact frame designed for maximum peripheral vision and minimal interference with other operational equipment.  Combined with the patented ESS Speed-Clip™ strap system for which the Striketeam™ line is known, the end result is a lightweight goggle that provides optimum compatibility and function with wildland fire helmets.

“The performance of the FirePro’s low-profile frame has been proven for years on the battlefield, and we’re extremely excited to now offer this goggle platform to wildland firefighters,” said Bob Mercurio, ESS Fire Program Manager.  “ESS FirePro goggles deliver aggressive styling with broad peripheral vision and unparalleled scratch and fog resistance, making them ideal for use on the fireline.”

All ESS FirePro™ goggles are compliant with wildland fire equipment performance requirements, including the NFPA 350°F for 5 minute oven test, ANSI Z87.1+, and US Federal OSHA.  The full-perimeter ventilation and filtration system minimizes lens fogging while filtering airborne particles.  The extra-thick, 2.8mm ballistic polycarbonate lenses provide 100% UVA/UVB protection.  Advanced ESS ClearZone™ Flow Coat lens coatings provide the ideal combination of anti-fog resistance on the inside of the lens and anti-scratch protection on the outside.

The ESS FirePro™ Series includes four introductory configurations, all with ESS’ distinctive red Speed-Clips™.  The FirePro-FS™ has a classic wraparound strap, the FirePro-EX™ has a snap-on/snap-off mounting system, and the Asian-Fit FirePro™ is designed especially for firefighters of Asian descent.  The FirePro-2V™ is available to international customers and features a two-piece Velcro strap.

For those with prescription eyewear needs, the nylon-framed ESS P-2B™ Rx Insert fits inside any ESS FirePro™ goggle as well as any ESS ICE™ Eyeshield.  This is the firefighting market’s first prescription integration able to be used across two product platforms.

ESS FirePro™ goggles are available through authorized ESS wildland firefighting product dealers and online at www.esseyepro.com.
